New Fall Collection: Meet Madeline!

The first of the new fall collection is the Madeline Maxi Dress. I designed this one for myself this summer as I found that most of the maxi dresses were just too crazy and loose for my liking. Once it was designed I just loved the way it came together, so I decided that it had to be a pattern! I love wearing this dress and it never fails that I get compliments everywhere I wear it...you will too!

It is a snap to sew together. The waist is slightly raised to give you the slimmest waistline profile and you have two choices for the skirt length. Several choices are offered for the hemband. This dress zips up the back and if you follow my tutorial for inserting the invisible zipper, you will be feeling like Super Seamtress!! As usual, there are numerous ways for you to mix and match your favorite fabrics to make your own unique creation.

Here is a gallery of the shots taken for the pattern cover. I am doing the full leaflet for the pattern again so you get a lot of different images as inspiration. This design is currently at the printer and should be here within 2 weeks. We will be sure to let you know when it is available for purchase.

Next week....some new skirts!!

Happy Sewing!!

It's beautiful!!!! I bought some fabrics over the summer to try to make some items from Sew Serendipity, but I'm to chicken to cut into the fabric :) I'm trying to get over my fear!! I'm going to have to if I want to make myself a Madeline dress!!

The maxis and dresses are gorgeous. I purchased sew serendipity and several yards of printed cottons only to become a deer in headlights. I wasn't sure how to match prints with prints.

Your dresses make my heart sing. You always look so stinkin' cute in them, too. I AM going to learn to sew clothes that fit. I haven't tried in SOOOO long. I bet I could do it now. Thanks for the lovely inspiration. And thanks for putting my blog on your "favorites". That tickles me. :-)

Happy day,

It's a very flattering design, ultra feminine, but not fussy. You've done it again!

I made myself a maxi dress in knit this summer and my husband HATED it. Said it looked too much like a moo-moo and was too loose. The Madeline is much better. Can't wait to make one!

I got my patterns! Love them. Can't wait to make them up (though they will have to wait a week or so until I finish the granddaughters costumes.) I will be doing the Savannah jacket very soon in pink wool flannel. I am not sure on the Madeline yet. I have some shamrock type prints I am considering doing up for a March dress for the daughter.
Blessings,
Patti

This dress is gorgeous and it looks very flattering! I've been doing a lot of children's sewing and have been afraid to dive into a dress for myself, but I have have to give this one a try.

Also, thank you thank you thank you for your size chart! I love that your waist:hip ratio is much more reasonable than most patterns that I see which require so much alteration for me.

I appreciate your work for making patterns for real women rather than models. You look beautiful in the dress! I hope that I will, too!

Hi!
I just descovered your blog/shop, and I am amazed!! I LOVE the fabrics and colours you use! I always wondered what in earth I can make of ordinary quilt-fabric...
So.. to my question:
Do you use any lining in your dresses/skirts/tops? Or just "normal" cotton fabrics? I`ve always worried about the fact that the garnments would end up TO light and dont have that "fall" in it if it it`s to lite...
Hoping that you answer cause I defenitly want to trie your patterns!

Hi Trollemor!
Thanks for your lovely compliments! I do not line my cotton fabrics, however, I do wear a half-slip with a lot of my designs, so I guess if you wanted to add a poly lining of some sort during construction, you could. I think you will find that they will hang nicely on their own. I just wear the slip because I think it hangs better on the body and wrinkles less when you do that. Hope you decide to try some patterns!

How do these patterns run? Are they close fitting or do they run loose?
